Every random video chat site calls itself free. Most of them are, for the thing you came for - matching with a stranger and talking. Where they differ is what sits behind the paywall and how hard they push it. This list sorts by that: what's free, what's paid, and whether the free version is a real product or a demo.
Chatroulette is the cleanest case. There's nothing to buy. You get the whole site. OmeTV and CamSurf are free at the core, with paid extras (country filters, no ads) that improve the experience but aren't needed. The pattern to know: on almost every site, the gender filter is paid.
