Joingy is the plainest version of the Omegle idea that's still running: pick text or video, add a few interests if you like, and you're paired with someone who shows up only as "Stranger". No account, no profile, nothing to fill in. It works in the browser on a phone or a computer. The rules say 18 and over and no sexual conversations, and chats are logged for moderation - that's the trade-off for staying free and anonymous.

What Joingy is

Joingy describes itself as a random webcam chat for talking to strangers anonymously. The front page has two doors, Text Only and Video Chat, and before either one you tick a box confirming you've read the Community Guidelines and Terms and that you're at least 18. Once connected, both of you appear as "Stranger", and a Leave Chat button takes you to the next person.

Interests

The Interests box is what makes it more than pure roulette. Type a few keywords and Joingy tries to pair you with someone online who listed the same ones. The rules page suggests using it for language too: the main chat is meant to be in English, so if you'd rather talk in Spanish or French, add that as an interest.

The rules, in plain terms

The Community Guidelines are short and specific: no one under 18, no sexual conversations or nudity, no harassment or hate, no spam or promotion, no bots, no sharing other people's private information. Two lines are worth knowing before you start. Joingy says it "keeps internal logs of discussions for moderation purposes", and people who break the rules get banned. The same page tells you to be careful with your own name, age, location and social handles.

Phone or computer

There's no app to install. The site works in a mobile browser once you allow the camera and microphone, and the browser tab lights up when a stranger sends a message.

What we could not verify

The site doesn't name the company that runs it, and the rules page footer still reads 2023. Moderation is described in general terms - a Trust and Safety team and detection systems running in the background - without saying whether people or software look at video.

Joingy against the alternatives

Joingy is the closest thing to old Omegle in spirit: text or video, interests, full anonymity. If you want a bigger crowd, OmeTV. If you want interest matching with an optional account and more structure, Emerald Chat. If you want moderators who actively watch the video, CamSurf.
