By using this site you agree to the following. They're short because the site is simple.

What the site is

Chat When Bored is an editorial site: lists, reviews and opinions about third-party chat platforms. We don't operate any of the platforms, we don't host any conversations, and we don't have accounts of our own for you to sign up to.

Third-party platforms

Every platform we link to is run by someone else, under their own terms and privacy policy. Your use of them is between you and them. We describe them as accurately as we can on the date shown on each page, but platforms change their features, prices and rules without telling us, and we can't guarantee any description is still current when you read it.

Adult content

Some pages and platforms are marked 18+. By opening them you confirm that you're an adult under the law where you are and that adult content is legal there. If either isn't true, don't open them. We don't host adult content; we describe and link to platforms that do.

Safety

Talking to strangers online carries risk. We give safety advice on most pages and it's good advice, but following it is up to you. We're not responsible for what happens in a conversation on someone else's platform.

Some links earn us a commission if you sign up. This is disclosed on every page and explained on the how we rank page. It doesn't change what we say.

Accuracy and liability

We work to keep the site accurate and re-check platforms regularly. Still, the site is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or of any platform it links to.

The text on this site is ours. Quote it with a link; don't republish it wholesale. Platform names and logos belong to their owners.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the bottom of every page is the date of the last site update.
