PolyBuzz is a character chat app in the Character.AI mould: pick a character someone else made, or build your own, and roleplay by text with voice replies. Its selling points are that chatting is free and that you can import character cards from other apps. Paid Basic and Premium memberships add stronger memory models and remove ads, and coins pay for extras. Its terms say it's for users 18 and over.

What PolyBuzz is

PolyBuzz lets you chat with AI characters: anime, movie and game characters, original characters, romance setups, text adventures. Most are made by other users, and you can create your own for free, public or private, with a voice, tags, story and appearance. The FAQ says you can import character cards or JSON files, including from Character.AI, Pygmalion and TavernAI, which matters if you're moving over from another app.

Logged out or logged in

You can browse characters on the website without an account. The site asks you to log in for multiple chat rounds, the advanced chat model, unlimited searches, free image generation and creating characters, so in practice you'll want an account.

Free, Basic, Premium and coins

Chatting is free. The FAQ describes two paid memberships, Basic and Premium: both include stronger memory chat models, unlimited listening to character voices and no ads, and Premium adds access to more chat models. Coins are a separate virtual currency used to extend voice chats, regenerate replies, get suggested replies and generate memory scenes. Prices are on the membership and coin pages in the app.

Privacy

The FAQ says your chats are private unless you share them, and that characters are AI with no human behind them.

Age and who runs it

The terms say users under 18 are denied service and that you give your age when you create an account; they also mention age checks in the United Kingdom that may ask for a date of birth or ID. The web terms name the operator as Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited in Hong Kong; the App Store lists the seller as Cloud Whale Interactive Technology LLC. The App Store rating is 17+.

What we could not verify

Public pages don't show membership prices, and the FAQ doesn't say how much free chat you get before limits or ads kick in.

PolyBuzz against the alternatives

PolyBuzz sits next to Character.AI and Talkie: character roleplay first, companionship second. Character.AI has the bigger name and a strict filter; Talkie leans into visuals and card collecting. If you want one companion that remembers you, Replika or Nomi fit better.
