Slowly review: what it is, who it's for

Pen-pal letters that take hours or days to arrive - the anti-instant option for people who want depth.

Slowly matches you with pen pals by interests and languages, and then it does something strange: your messages take time to arrive, based on how far apart you live. A letter to someone on another continent might take a day. That sounds like a bug and it's the whole design. People write longer, think more, and the conversations that survive are real ones. It's free, with a paid tier for extras like more stamps and slots.

Who it's for

Not for tonight. If you're bored right now and want a reply in ten seconds, this is the wrong tool. It's for the person who's tired of ten-second replies and wants one letter a day from someone who thought about it.

How matching works

You set languages, topics, and an age range, then browse profiles or use auto-match. Each new pen pal costs a 'stamp', which the free tier gives you a few of. Conversations that stay polite stay open for years - there are people on Slowly who've been writing to the same person since 2018.

It's calm in a way nothing else on this list is.
